Description
I am currently actively involved in the modeling of wave-particle interactions and their effects on the dynamics of energetic electrons in the Earth’s inner magnetosphere for space science applications related to Defense and non-proliferation. I am managing Master and Phd students and have close collaborators world-wide in various universities and national laboratories. I am leading international research projects that use satellite observations and massively parallel simulations to produce impactful analysis with the best experts of the field. We address this way complex physical phenomena occurring from the atmosphere up to space, often threatening our flying or orbiting systems. Recently, I have shown that it is possible to numerically reproduce the observed full tridimensional (in space and velocity) structure of the Earth’s radiation belts, which makes us progress in our understanding and forecasting of the threat posed by highly energetic particles. Some of my latest publications are listed below, among which a very recent review of the field of radiation belt physics. Twenty years after my PhD, I have reached a wide expertise that concerns fluids and plasmas of various origins and all numerical technics involved to solve them.
